Default Trans am Turbo wheel question....

For the "wheel experts" out there.....what was original factory finish on the silver ones?

I am now curious too. When I got my 79 tenth T/A, the wheels looked a bit dingy, almost "yellowed" slightly (very slightly) To my surprise they polished up without removing any type of clear coat. So, either my car never had clear, or the original owner removed it.

So, my post really doesn't help much, if at all. however, I do have the original owners contact info, so I can call him to ask if he recalls removing anything from the wheels.

I had an 80 Turbo T/A brand new with the silver /natural Turbo wheels....my memory is a bit fuzzy on this.... (Coors induced) but thinking they MAY have been just machined with minimal clearcoat.

OK,here is a picture of an original "unmolested" 1980 15 x 8" turbo wheel.....with minimal clearcoat deterioration....considering it's age....and it looks exactly like the ones that were on my 80 back when ot was new....

Doesn't look like paint,does it?

Those would be so sick. 17" or 18" turbos would look amazing!
