Default Cheap buy

I have a chance at a cheap buy. It's a 77 400 and Turbo 350 trans, complete except for carb, alternator. Has some good parts but two holes in the oil pan tells me broken rod(s) but the main drawback is the heads, 7L4's. 455 two barrel heads along with it being the boat anchor 557 block. Trans is supposed to be in excellent shape, has the original intake, good oil filter adaptor, exhaust manifolds, pulley's alternator bracket, timing cover. No knowledge about the cam or pistons, whether it's ever been rebuilt or not but it shows signs of being put together by a Chevy guru, (vacuum advance) pointing towards passenger side head. As I said I can pick this up real cheap but not sure if in some ways it's worth the gamble?
Opinions please and if this needs to be moved to another section of the forum the mods feel free to move.
Thanks in advance. Alan

basically you're just buying the trans......the engine is just about worthless!
Does the motor have the T/A valve covers?

Man those heads on a 400 would be super low compression. Engine might be worth tearing apart to see it it's been rebuilt, and what's in it, makes me wonder with the incorrect heads on it.
455 2 Bbl heads, there's a needle in a haystack...
