Trim Tag Body Unit #1
What is the significance of a Body Unit number of "1" on a Trim Tag?
First car of that style at a plant? Would VIN necessarily be low or 0001?

Yes - it would be the first car of that body style through the body shop at that plant.
It would be a low VIN (except under extreme circumstances) but not necessarily 001. The first two '67 Firebirds were tagged "SHOW1" and "SHOW4" and corresponded to VIN 001 and VIN 002, respectively. VIN 002 came off the final line first based on contemporary photos of the event. Most plants have the ability to shuffle the order of the build after body shop and before paint, and then again between paint and trim, in order to level the work load for the trim and final line workers (ie, can't have too many A/C cars in a row, can't have too many stick shift cars in a row, etc), to accommodate any material or part shortages, and to provide a buffer to keep the final line running in the event of a breakdown in body or paint. In the quote that Keith posted, a comment was made wondering why the SHOW designation skipped from SHOW-1 to SHOW-4 when the VIN's were consecutive. Pontiac assigned SHOW designation numbers for the entire division, not just for the model or plant. SHOW-2 and SHOW-3 may have been a LeMans, GTO, or full size.
SHOW-7 was a 1967 Firebird 400 convertible, VIN# 00004, prepped in primer (no paint). Mike

Do you think the other 'Magnificent Five' were SHOW tagged?
3 of the '5' (which could be ten cars if convertibles used) are SHOW tagged. (that we have records of)
