Default 72 Lemans driveshaft length problem

I have a th350 and bop 8.2 in my 72 Lemans. My plans are to swap in a short tail th400.

Current driveshaft is stock, like 56", with c clip ujoints. I just bought a spare driveshaft locally, thinking it was the right application/length. It has outside lock u joints and a 5.5" th400 yoke but the length is around 54.25".

Does anyone have an idea how this is supposed to work? This is my first A body, and I don't know if Pontiac used different length driveshafts, or different length yokes to take up the 5/8" length difference between th350 and th400.

Squidward, with the short-tail T-400 Pontiac 8.2 10 bolt, & stock engine perch location, your 2door LeMans needs a driveshaft that measures 55.375" center to center on u joints. This driveshaft uses the medium length '67-74 Turbo 400 yoke with 3R u joints.

A 54.25" driveshaft is going to be a big block Chevelle T-400 piece, if memory serves right, that particular Chevelle driveshaft used a long style T400 yoke with Spicer 1310 ujoints.

Dammit.

What size is a medium yoke? I have a 4" length th400 yoke from a 73 firebird. I think that it has the 3r joints.

I might just have to get the stock one cut. I was hoping for a little more plug and play. Ultimate goal is to have the th400 in place, with a 71 Skylark 8.5. This shafts will probably work for that, but I don't want 1310's. This was supposed to be a stop-gap until I could build the 8.5.

Will measure a few T-400 yokes mid morning.

It would probably be the perfect length for when I put in the 8.5, but I don't want 1310 joints once I get there. I want something a touch beefier.
