RA Air Cleaner Vacuum Hose Routing
What is the correct vacuum hose routing configuration for the bottom of the RA Air Cleaner assembly. Any pics of correct routing would be great!

To answer your question;
Add a second hose to the temperature sensor. T the hose with the second snorkel hose. Add a third hose from the T to the manifold vacuum source in front of the. carb The left snorkel (looking from the front under the hood) is normally open with the engine off and no vacuum. At idle and during cruise, vacuum closes the flapper valve. During low vacuum situations (acceleration) the valve opens allowing additional air to the carb. This vacuum motor requires a direct connection to manifold vacuum. The right snorkel is also normally open but only with the engine off. With the engine at idle or cruise, full manifold vacuum is applied to the temperature sensor. When carburetor air intake temperatures are below 105*, the sensor opens allowing vacuum to the vacuum motor, moving the snorkel flap to block under hood air and allow warm air from the exhaust manifold to enter the carb. When the intake air climbs above 105*, the snorkel flap gradually opens. During low vacuum situations (acceleration) with a cold engine, the valve opens allowing additional air to the carb. This vacuum motor requires a direct connection to the temperature sensor which requires manifold vacuum. To do this both vacuum circuits are T'd to a single manifold vacuum source. The vacuum motors above each snorkel are different and cannot be interchanged. To allow fully opened snorkel operation at all times, simply disconnect the vacuum lines and cap the manifold vacuum source

OG68 - Thanks, your explanation of how it works is better than a picture!

You are also missing one hose clip.

The drawing was just a rough sketch meant to show how the hoses connect and wasn't necessarily correct in its placement.
But yes, they would come out to the front. What year is your car and is the Air Cleaner original to it? The snorkels look to have two hot air tubes, one for each side.

Thanks, thats what I figured after I wrote that and tried to delete post but apparently I was too slow
Based on HTR pic from his referenced thread I think its a 71-72 assembly. I bought it 1989 and it apparently came off a Lemans Super Sport. I am using it on my 72 GTO but not likely to connect it too manifold vacuum |
