Finally had a chance to grind the casting lugs off the ia2 today. The turbo headers just kiss the the screw in freeze plugs I likely will mill 050 off the plugs on the 505. Lols
Like steering will Be challenging but not impossible. This is the 540 short block with some speedmaster 87cc heads for
Mock up. 505 short block is together, cam is here, lifters here, turbo here, heads are welded up but need to go to shop, currently have just about everything but time. Hopefully on the chassis dyno before July 4th is currently goal.
This weekend hope to get turbo location determined and hot side mocked up with tape or band clamps.

Very cool! Those are the 3" log manifolds, correct? What size is the turbo? Are cam specs being shared?

What kind of welding did ya have to do to the heads?

Just had the water jackets welded up for dry deck.
They are a pretty old set of Fulper 87cc heads probably flow 315 or so. We will probably see them out to Paul K do
Some CNC magic, if they don't meet our et goals.

Made some head way today I'm pretty happy with the turbo location except I would have liked to move it back to the firewall about 2". In order to do that I would have to te make the down bar and that is not in the plans at this point.
Custom duct work behind the mostly open 64 grille is the current answer. The hood will
Close once I remove a small portion of one of the fiberglass reinforcements. I may need to add the reinforcement farther back at some point. I do want to put a steel hood on at some point it likely will need a blister or a SD scoop over the throttle body and elbow but again not the current plan.
Looks like the vacuum pump and alternator will fit in the locations they were at when NA.
Have the driver side hot side brainstormed to the passenger side, now just need to configure the passenger side merge and the turbo connection. What I had purchased is not going to wok so I will be doing some surfing trying to find what I have in my melon.

I have cam specs I have two both are fairly mild. They remind my efi/turbo friend/adviser of LS turbo grinds so in Randy I trust. He does it for a living. Although he says I can get to the chassis tag with a very small hydraulic roller, I'm
Going bigger. I'm Likely going two the larger one I'll get them. It's something I picked up used from Brian cooper believe his dad used it. It's hydraulic roller based but run with solids. I have a set of bushed BAM lifters ready to go.

I’m still waiting for my new Wilson’s low profile elbow to arrive, but if it ends up fitting well I’ll be putting my Steve Morris billet elbow up for sale. Just a thought for you instead of cutting your hood. It’s a 4500 flange

It appears you folded your Front Plate and is it mounted to the bottom crossmember with a bracket? Slick Idea if it is!

my plate has always had the 90* bend in it. I had to do that to clear the 64 steering box placement, and I have about 2' of engine set back. I havent solved this format yet. I believe i am going to tie into frame underneath. i want to finalize the tubing coming around the steering box before i finalize the reattachment of the engine plate
thanks for the compliments. Im not going to win best engineered or executed but i can make it stick. this has been brewing for about 3 years, it really is an effort to be able to drive the car more regularly and enjoy it. Also be able to turn it up for norwalk or an occasional nostalgia race and run some personal bests.

there may be enough room to keep the radiator in the front behind the intercooler. One step at a time. Also has anyone tried a CSF King Cooler radiator on the street? my buddy thinks it may be enough to cool this car and it def saves some room in the engine bay. Not sure what direction yet
