Default Summit or comp cam

Hey guys. Think settled on Summit 2802. for the 400., but is not in stock till mid June. I noticed Comp sells kits , cam, lifters timing chain and such. What comp cam replicates the 2802. And are these kits any good by comp. This is a sock bottom end. This is a re seal, chain, cam, have heads done. All bearings looked great. Was a, or think TRW 288 in it. Again budget not race car build.
Thank you in advance.

I'm not aware of a "shelf cam" Comp has that would be close.
Custom lobes, maybe these Magnum family.

Intake 5213
276 (actually closer to 279)
226 @ .050
136 @ .200
.3090 lobe

Exhaust 5241
284
236 @ .050
146 @ .200
.3160 lobe

Might consider Bullet Cams, maybe an Ultradyne..

What are some of the details of your 400? Compression, head flow, quench volume, rear gear, transmission, converter...and so on

I’m surprised 9:1 is enough compression for the 2802 in a 400

So your heads are confirmed to be set up to run the .488” exh that cam has?

Does the car in the least have 3.55 gears?

Heads are 62, will be sending those out soon. Plan to run Rpm intake as well. Everything else for the car will come later. I am doing things in steps as I can afford them. This is not a running driver car at the moment.
Is this not a good cam choice??

Dom, I would suggest one of the Lunati VooDoo cams like the 703.
https://www.lunatipower.com/voodoo-h...8-268-276.html

I've had good luck with them and no disappointments in power or performance.
I used this in a stock 69' Trans Am 400 build and made 380 HP om Lenny Caverly's engine dyno.
In the car it ran great! I do like the 704 as it more aggressive but the 703 makes great mid range TQ.
