Throttle Cable Bracket
My 71 GT-37 has a 76 400 with Edelbrock Performer intake and Quadrajet. The original throttle cable seems fine but the original cable bracket wont work on the Edelbrock. I am thinking of clamping my cable to the Edelbrock throttle cable bracket like in picture below.
Has anyone done this? Is there a better way? Thanks!--Kim |

Edelbrock has brackets that will allow a factory throttle cable bracket to bolt on. One comes with the manifold, can’t remember if it’s pre/post 72.
I’m assuming you didn’t obtain manifold new…so you’ll need to get on for an “early” style, 71 and older. Edit - I think you still need to modify the factory piece, cutting a tang off, in order to make it fit.

Thanks guys...Very helpful. My engine was last in a 71 Firebird so I think I may already have this "L" shaped adaptor (see link)... I'll check in the morning...
https://www.edelbrock.com/carburetor...tiac-8015.html The PDF instructions show how to cut and bend original bracket so it can be used... I'll let you know. |

Well, with the parts that were there and modifying my old stock bracket I think I have a configuration the will work.
SECOND QUESTION: Where does the cable itself attach to the Quadrajet? Is it on the back side of the linkage like the second picture (see arrow)? If so, do I use a washer and a clip? |
