6.50x14 - standard on all models except V8 and station wagons.
7.00x14 - standard on station wagon and cars with V8 engine option (7.50x14 - optional)

The 7.50x14 was the stock size on the '64 GTO.

What does 7.50 or 7.75 x 14 equate to in todays tire measurments? 225/70/14? Looking at a set of these BFGoodrich Radial T/As in 225/70/14 for my 65 with Rally 1 wheels. Don't want them to be too small or too big and rub.
Thanks

Took me a while to figure this out, but here's the best way to make sure you get the proper tire height:
Tire sizes are expressed as tread width in millimeters/sidewall measurement (or aspect ratio) as a percent of width. In otherwords, with a measurement of 225/70 that means that the treadwidth is 225 millimeters and the sidewall is 70 percent of 225mm or 157.50mm. To get the height correct use the following: {[(Tread width (in mm) x aspect ratio) x 2] divided by 25.4} + wheel size. What you are doing with this formula is measuring the sidewall height, multiplying it by two (remember you cross the sidewall twice when measuring the tire height), dividing it by 25.4 since there are 25.4 millimeters in an inch, and adding the wheel size in inches. This gives the total tire height in inches. Example: 225/70R-14 225mmx70%=157.50mm 157.50mmx2=315mm 315mm/25.4inches per mm = 12.40 inches 12.40 inches + 14 inches = 26.40 inches high. This comes darn close to the 26.50 inch height of the original 64 GTO tires and is your best bet for clearance, speedometer accuracy and non-scrapability (is that a word?).
