Power steering pump pressure
Is it possible for the pump to make too much pressure or not enough pressure.
I have a quick ratio box and my replacement pump. I am getting a belt squeal at 3000 rpm. Nothing before 3000. New pulleys and belts. When I changed the pump I never considered the pressure required. If that is possible. Alignment is correct. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

My junkyard "research"from pulling pumps and their regulators told me that Bird had the low psi (1100?), A-bodies had medium (1200?), and big cars had high psi (1600?).
Think i went with 1600 psi in one of my birds and it was too twitchy. Nice though in a 68 GTO. |

Cogged V-Belt is the best remedy for PS squeal.
Is the new PS belt you mention bottomed-out on the PS or crankpulley? |

I will check that. They seem to be seated flush. Remanufactured gm pulleys and gates belts.
When you order a new pump, do you need to be pressure specific? Did I make a mistake? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Pump pressure
Summit sells a kit to adj pressure.
It goes into output port on pump. The kit contained shims to control Bypass volume and thus lowered output Pressure. When I put a new pump in I did not know to Pull old output fitting and transfer to new pump. Kit resolved issue.
