Default short(.005") timing set goes on tight

Cam installed with this short timing set is a bit too tight when fitting cam sprocket over the cam nose. Needed to tap it a bit to get it to go on. The way it is now I can see that it is pulling the cam nose towards the crank and therefore the front cam journal is definitely rubbing on the bearing. I figure that while operating like this the front cam bearing and journal will clearance itself in time. Will I be okay? Thanks.

Is it too loose with a standard timing set?

A bit more than I like. The shorter set is more to my liking but pulls the cam journal to the bearing making it rub. Since it's rubbing I suppose it's kind of like a cam bearing that's a couple thou tight on one side

You could try a different combination of chain and gears between both sets you have- there might be a combo that gets you where you want to be.

Good advice. It's the gears that are sized smaller on these sets.
