Default Summit got me

For the first time in 22 years they charged me sales tax. I called and asked why and just got told it was the new norm. I guess unless it’s just something I need the next day I will be ordering big ticket items from amazon.

Try and send a defect or return to Amazon....you’ll be crawling back to Summit sooner than you think!

I send an item back to amazon at least once every two weeks. Have never had a problem. I bought 3400 items from amazon last year. They refund my money as soon as ups picks up the item they don’t even wait to get it back

I've never had an return rejected by Amazon either - only do so a couple of times a year though but I do spend plenty with them!

I agree. Amazon has the best customer service and return policy. I do spend a lot with them. Who would have ever guessed that we would be buying car parts and accessories from Amazon. You get the stuff in 2 days and free shipping. I can also get stuff from Summit in a day as they are in Sparks, Nevada which is very close to the SF bay area. Also note, stuff Summit may not sell to CA buyers can usually be gotten from Jegg's. Had to do that on a 3" exhaust pipe kit for an El Camino. Their prices are pretty much the same. Anyway, Jeff now needs the extra cash due to his new woman.

I bought a 1000 onkyo surround sound from amazon with a two year manufacturers warranty and a 90 store warranty. I kept it a year and 9 months and it started giving me problems. I contacted onkyo and their nearest service center was in New Jersey witha 8 week turn around time. I contacted amazon and they said sure send it back and then when they realized my particular receiver was no longer stocked they sent me the current model year at no charge to me. I will take my chances with amazon returns

Recent court decisions mandate that large companies collect sales tax for states that have them even though they may not have a physical presence in that state. I think this was effective last year but the state must first initiate the process. SC may be late to the game which is why you're seeing it now. I haven't ordered anything from Summit for awhile so it will be interesting to see if California is onboard yet.

I just got something from Summit last week. Don't think I paid tax. $7.99 " handling" for a $9.95 item but I hate to wait and it was here the next day.

I have prime and we cheat and use it for my stuff my father in laws big farm my mother and sister and just about any family member that needs anything. We don’t buy any groceries at the store except perishables. Toilet paper, light bulbs, paper towels, febreeze, tide, it adds up. 65 packages a week is about right. Should have seen the porch when we ordered 1200 heat lamp bulbs for grow houses in two bulb boxes. Sometimes USPS comes to my house two and three times a day.

Easiest mailorder returns I've ever made were to Amazon....?
I start an online return, they email me a shipping label and I drop it off. I've done it half a dozen times.

Amazon charges sales tax in AZ, but I don't see any on Summit.

I will continue to support Summit. Besides... Bezos will be sending plenty of money to his soon-to-be ex.

Amazon has been charging me tax for years.

Summit hasn't.

But I know that they eventually will - as will Amazon for you.

Summit has a warehouse in Arlington here so they have collect Texas sales tax for awhile. Jegs just started in October.

Technically the state of Texas expected every person who mailorders and does not pay then to the company to cut the state a check! If you are a business and do not and they do your sales tax audit they will hit you with penalties.

True and part of that 10 year agreement was collection of sales tax for SC. What Amazon has done to-date is send me a list of what I spent by email for me to give my tax person. This has been the norm for several years. Supposedly a copy of the email goes to the tax agency in Columbia to check against our state return if your return doesn't show it. Sounds like you have been real lucky so far.

(Dang, my tax accountant always asks me for the Amazon email)
