Default 81 power trunk wire

Is it correct on an 81 for the wire to power trunk release to pass through a hole punched in taillight harness grommet exiting trunk just to re-enter trunk at latch through a hole just large enough for wire itself w/no grommet ? Thanks

I forgot I had to run a wire from the button. But there is no hole to come back in with a wire back there
