You don't have to convert. There is a place in Prescott, Ontario that sells the perforated foam backed material. I bought it two years ago and it was $45.00CAN I think. They didn't have Camel tan, just tan, so the match for me wasn't 100%, but once installed you never notice the difference. They do have most colors though.

You have to take your old headliner out and scrape off the old foam. It comes off very easily. Then spray on the glue and lay the new material on. Reinstall. Voila, new roof.

All the major restoration houses carry the mid/73-81 perforated style headliner material. I'm not sure if light blue is available but just get the closest material and then vinyl dye it to match your interior.

Make sure you get all the crud and glue off the old board before putting the new one on. I used lacquer thinner, rags, and rubber gloves, got it slick as new. Also be sure to use the correct glue, NPD has the right stuff (special headliner glue not GP adhesive). Mine turned out perfect.

Or, if yopu dont want the hassle, you can get a new ABS board with the material already glued on.
Its not cheap but probably would last longer than the factory board.I think they are around $130 plus shipping.

Just do a search on the web for Automotive Uphostery or Automotive Headliners. You'll get dozens of places that will fill your needs. Many have the exact material used on most car models and years. Most replacement headliners run about $12-$15 for the amount of material you'll need. And yes, they do come with the foam backing.

I did the older style bow thing and it worked out very well and only cost around $30 from the paddock for the headliner material and a trip to the junkyard to find bows and retaining clips. If you cannot find a firebird or camaro just get them from and older big car and cut them. Don't buy the kit from Classic Industies it was crap and after that experience I never do business with that company.
