A while back I ordered a set of cheap headers from Summit for the 67-69 firebird because I heard these were similar to the 68 GP's. After pounding on the driver's side header for hours I realized it wasn't going to work. I recently regained interest in this project and got the passenger side to fit with minimal poundage. The drivers side got all the tubes cut off about an inch from the flange. I'm ordering three j-tubes from Summit tonight to try and weld up a header for the driver's side. Do you guys have any suggestions. I know I have to make sure I can get the bolts on and off. Anything else I need to know? Thanks, Jimmy.

Sometimes I think about how much more money I'd have if my car got better mileage, but when I hammer the gas and I smell that tire smoke........I remember that I also spend a lot of money on tires. |

Hi Jimmy,
Fellow 68GP owner here. I went thru the same grief and didn't like the outcome, so I popped for Doug's Headers which fit like a charm. Starter clearance even with a mini-starter is tight on the driver's side. Les

I would get Doug's headers but I can't justify spending that much money when my car is in need of other parts(like a transmission). Looking in the engine compartment with the flange bolted up it looks like there's a pretty decent amount of room. Did it look like that to you? I'm not making equal length tubes so that should make it a little easier. Thanks, Jimmy.
