Am trying to find a frame for my dad's 4drht and need to know what frames will work. Have discovered it is too expensive for one time use to purchase either the Holllader or Mitchell Interchange manuals. Can anyone advise me what frames will work? If necessary I will reinburse for this info. To date I have received most conflicting information on this subject. Thanks, Bryce

You basically need to find a frame from a 4dr or 2dr Bonneville or Star Chief Executive. I am pretty sure the same models from '65 will work also.
Give me a thumbs up, tell me "Nice Car!", but for god's sake, don't call it an Impala. |

It is too bad you are so far away from me i could probably help you out as I have a 66 4 dr ht frame and a 65 2 dr ht frame. oh well good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Just before I received your answers I reviewed a 66 chassis manual. It confirmed matched frames are in 66 4drht and 2drht cars in 66 in both the bonneyville and starchief executive. The sudan frames are not the same . Although this manual is not for l965, I suspect the frames in the above models will work too. Now I know how to proceed . Thanks.

Bare frames (control arms removed) will truck freight for couple hundred dollars shipping expense. Shipper usually will have to break down a bunch of cardboard boxes & wrap the entire frame rails & crossmembers with cardboard & shipping tape. Freight company can then pickup, or seller can haul to freight company. Receiving...nice to have a freight dock & 3 able bodied individuals to unload.

The Sedan is different? Wow, I wouldn't have thought that.

boneyville joe, I would not have thought a sedan would be different either. However a gm retiree explained the frame size is the same except for a hard top had to be strengthened, and gm did that putting more steel in the form of a box in the side rails to give it the extra strength it needed because of no center bridge. Sounded reasonable to me, and the 66 chassis manual does indeed indicate there is a difference via different numbers ascribed to the sedan frame. So much for interesting trivia. Bryce
