Default Which shifter?

I am building a 63 Tempest strip/street car and am in the process of converting the drive train to a V8 and a turbo 350/400. The car has a bench seat. The shifter will be on the floor, Which shifter should I go with? I have zero experience with aftermarket auto shifters.

thanks

Hey neighbor!
Glad to see there is another Pontiyacker in the area. I'm just a few miles north of you. I'm using a B&M Megashifer and have been very happy with it. It can be used with a reverse valve body, locks out reverse, and allows you to "ratchet" throught the gears so you can't miss a shift. They sell the Megashifter in a universal model that will install on the floor with little effort.Check out http://bmracing.com for the whole selection.

I run a Hurst V-Matic 2. You can use it like a regular shifter, or when in neutral, push it down and enter the ratchet action mode. Nearly all other aftermarket shifters are full-time ratchet shifters. It also has a reverse lockout. Very high quality piece and well worth every penny. I've tried nearly all the aftermarket auto shifters out there. There was a reason why I decided on the Hurst.
