Default Engine swap OHC 6 to V8- 400

So my first post here I have just acquired a 66 Tempest 4 door post, while I know it will never demand the price of a GTO I have other reasons for fixing this up, My family owned one when I was a child and I always loved that car, and I do believe that 4 door classics are and will make a comeback. Anyways on the subject, I have a 400 with 400 turbo trans from a 70s Bonneville or Catalina I am picking up next week and am trying to work out any known issues before I get into the swap. I know the fuel pump is on the driver side, I already have some braided fuel line that I will run along and secure to the k member so that one is figured out. I have heard/read that the crossmember will just need to be moved back on the frame, holes already there? I will have to get a different trans mount. I have ordered new shocks/springs for all 4 corners (heavy duty w/AC for the front) What about engine mounts? So far all I can find are solid race mount types, I already have a Harley so don't want the extra vibrations in my car, I should be picking up the motor sometime next week so I can get the stamping to rune the code and see exactly what it was in for more info, just want to run the usual tests before swapping (compression, leak, etc) then I may start modding the top end with intake carb, cam, possibly heads or head work, any thoughts suggestions? I also have a 8.5 rear from a 70s buick that has moser axles and a posi, am going to weld on the bolt down spring perches from my rear and even with the extra inch of width should still be ok on the wheel offset. I also ordered the largest aluminum radiator I could find without having to modify the support, probably will end up with an electric cooling fan setup. I am also looking at headers and found a header back (bolt on- yeah right) exhaust from Summit, it says Tempest, GTO, LeMans but am wondering if the length will come up short? How much difference is there in the wheelbase lentgh between 2 and 4 door? My car originally came without A/C and I don't plan on adding, I am looking into the March Performance serpentine setup, anyone here using it? The last thing I am looking to upgrade is going from manual to power brakes, there is a kit on evil bay for around $450, anyone?? Anything else anyone could come up with I would be greatly appreciative of getting rid of an extra headache before it occurs

Angry DON'T DO IT...

As much as I hate to see an OHC Pontiac get killed,
You'll need the frame brackets for the engine mounts as well as mounts.
You may need to swap/mod the engine harness and the Rad has to be changed.

What are going to do with the OHC stuff?

It won't be killed, the motor and trans will be bagged and stored, in case I do ever decide to sell or go back to #'s matching original
As for the frame brackets can I use any from a 389, 400, or 455 vehicle?
The radiator has already been ordered

Keep the OHC-6, tranny and driveshaft so you still have the matching numbers drivetrain. It's a wise thing to hang on to all the part you have to replace. Someday you may want to restore that Tempest to it's original condition.

Not that I wouldnt like to see the OHC-6 prosper that combo in a 4dr is lowest on the food chain.
I parted a rare(only 3 made as far as we could tell) OHC-6 Sprint 4 dr with factory A/C,because a large 80 ft pine tree fell across the trunk.
That car was worth more dead than alive.

run search here, swap has been done before and a lot of discussion here about the details. there will be lots of small items that will need changing. Suggest you change it over like pontiac had for the V8. not just running extension hoses and such. Better to do a clean change over than a mickey mouse job. get the factory service manual first to see all the details for the swap.

This is not my first engine swap, have a lot of experience with G-Bodies, I ran into a simialr situation installing a Buick 455 into an El Camino with the fuel line being on the pass side and did the same thing used braided fuel line secured to the k member with metal clamps. Passed NHRA inspection at the track with flying colors. I am far beyond mickey mouse, I understand what you were trying to say and don't take offense to it, you don't really know me and I don't know you. The main purpose in replacement is for my enjoyment with the thought of possibly going back to the OHC 6 if I wanted to go back to #'s matching with minimal alterations (or permanent ones).
