Correct vacuum routing on 72TA?
Need help to determine if my 72TA has the correct vacuum routing. I attached a file depicting the vacuum schematic for the current routing on the car. Is this correct? If not, what needs to be corrected. Thx for the help..

No. The Thermostatic valve at the front is wrong. The lower port should go to the front of the carb.

Also, the front port on the TCS should be open, or have a filter over it, not plugged.

Held for Ransom;
Just want to clarify that the lower port on the Thermostatic valve at the front of the manifold runs to both the rear port on the TCS (near the electrical connector) and to the port on the carb mounting plate (rear side of carb). This sounds to be incorrect. Should the lower port of the Thermostatic Valve go to the port on the front of the carb. There is a port just to the driver side of centerline on the carb, front of carb, just above the carb mounting plate, but on the carb body. I have this port capped at the moment. 165th: Where can the filter be obtained for the front port of the TCS. Generally, does the distributor vacuum line go from the side port on the TCS to the distributor vacuum advance? Where should the distributor vacuum advance line be routed to? Thanks for the help. |

Lower port on thermostatic purge valve goes to front port on carb and nothing else. It uses a straight 9" length of hose. The port on the top of the thermostatic purge valve goes to the vacuum cannister on the passenger side of the radiator support.
The green arrows are the vacuum feed line to the heater/a/c switch in the dash. It originates at the specialized 1972-only, angled T-fitting at the rear of the carb. The special angled T-fitting has one large angled nipple to supply vacuum to the brake booster and two small ones for the TCS and dash supply. This photo is of my four speed car. I believe an automatic car will have an additional small port to feed the trans vacuum modulator. The red arrows indicate the line that supplies vacuum to the rear of the TCs solenoid. The blue arrows indicate the vacuum line that runs from the side of the TCS solenoid to the distributor vacuum advance unit. The front nipple of the TCS solenoid is an outside air bleed that has a filter element on it. There is a guy who sells those little filters on ebay for about $5.
