This might be totally off the wall, but "C49" is also the RPO code for rear window defog (like "C60" is air conditioning).
Might not have anything to do with it but I thought I'd put that out there. K

wierd I know there are different codes on the sheetmetal, just couldnt figure them out before. This almost seems too easy, but thanks for the input, just curious.

just for fun check the codes on the fenders. iirc on the inside support by the hood hinge. If they are the original fenders codes should be close.
