US strikes backs
I work for a GM HOLDEN dealer who also sells Great Wall Motors from China,
I had a good laugh this morning when getting out some spark plug leads/wires for one of the techs in the workshop. Usually reading about Chinese parts on American cars, looks like a win for good guys!

I should add that this came out of a genuine Great Wall packet clearly marked
MADE IN CHINA.

When I was young and still in school I had a summer job at USA Stereo Speaker & Loudspeaker Mfg.. I built the various brands speaker cabinets, stained, and final finished the same. As I clearly remember, we built KENWOOD Speakers, and I was in charge of a special run of Birch Wood tweeter and woofer mounting facia models. They looked great, and sounded OK; although not nearly as good as my BOSE 301s. Anyway...on every KENWOOD Loudspeaker Box it was stamped: "Made in Japan." which was total BS. Every part was mfg'd at the plant I worked at. The metal cages that held the drivers, the cones, the actual speaker components, electronics, etc. There may have been a minor circuit board that was from Japan...but the vast majority of materials, components, transformer & speaker windings, and electrical components (99%) were built in the USA plant. So not surprised with your "Made in the USA" items actually being mfg'd in China. After all, who do they really think they're fooling by now? Thxs for sharing and posting. |

Not so with the original '70s designs exactly like these - that I still have - in hall closet w OEM pkging. Reconed and retired after many faithful yrs of svc.
Below are the KENWOOD's I mentioned previously that were totally made in the USA Last edited by Alvin; 02-05-2014 at 10:36 PM. |
