Default '70 Formula 400 junkyard

an acquaintance alerted me to this old Bird, bottom up. I relieved her of her 12-bolt and sway bars and a few other odds and ends with the help of my father-in-law. Fun day.

hard to imagine it rolling off the assembly line...nice score on the sway bar..but that photo is just a bit depressing

Wow... wonder if there are any other useful bits on it if you could flip it back over. Ram Air car, or no way to tell?

couldn't tell Keith, hood was long gone, and no other clues I could see.

would posi have been an option on this car - or would it have come factory standard in this set-up?

Posi in those days were extra cost, not standard fare.

am I looking at it wrong or does that core support not look to be that bad? That's a pretty rare part if you could save it and it isn't rusted thru or mangled

the rad core support looked OK, but the sub frame rubbers/bolts had pulled right through it - but I guess that's repairable.

I would check to see if the plastic deflectors at the base of the windshield moldings are there. If the car has been upside down for a long time then the plastic pieces have not seen sunlight, and might be in good shape. One year only part, not reproduced, and very hard to find in good condition.

Default THE BUZZARDS HAVE NOT PICKED IT CLEAN...

there actually are a lot of small parts to check out,the nose, the grill, mounting hardware, bolts, the entire car,.....after that then we can put a fork in it....actually I remember in 1992 in a closed factory and I found a way in...an abandoned 1970 Lucerne blue /blue Firebird...I took the console (for whatever)...3 months later someone snagged the car..to have it today?!

Yes... Get every good part you can salvage -- including hardware.

I'll be heading back out there in the next week to strip some of the hardware and clips etc. that looked usable. I will check on the windshield corner trim, but doubtful - roof is collapsed. There is a Ford FE engine of undetermined C.I.D. INSIDE the car (yes, in where the seats should be), and it has a clutch and flywheel on it so might be a hi-perf 390 or 428 (dream). But there were a ton of heavy trucks and dump trucks in the vicinity so probably a 352 or 360 truck engine (reality).

I will grab the rad support if anyone's interested. I got the shock mounting plates on the rear already. Will post pics of the booty as I get it. ANY OTHER 1970 SPECIFIC PARTS WORTH looking for on it? Nose mounting bracketry and hardware? Car seemed to be originally white with a blue interior, non-AC, ...forgot to check for console brackets or column shift - will do that this time.
