Does anyone know if '62 and'63 full size (Catalina specifically) standard shift towers and pedal assemblies are the same? I have parted out and disassembled/reassembled several '61, '62, and' 63 full size Catalinas and Bonnevilles and except for the length differences between the Cats and Bonnevilles they are basically the same car, but I have never tried actually mounting a '62 pedal setup in a '63 and visa versa. I know the zbars '62/'63 are different but also know they can be made to work both ways. I'm just wondering if anyone knows for sure if the pedal mounts and pedals themselves are the same?
I ask because I have a pedal set out of a '63 and have a friend with a '62 that he wants to convert to standard shift, and do not want to sell him the '63 set and have it not fit. |

Thanks for the response Tom. Yes I know the bell is different, etc. I'm just wondering if the pedals and what I call the "tower" (which bolts in between the dash and the firewall and which the pedals are mounted on) are identical.

As you know there was a “standard” clutch/brake pedal setup and a HD setup with the famous “ green over center return spring”
Not sure the clutch/brake pedal hanger bracket was the same between 62/63 but I bet either could be made to work. My $.02 |

I talked to Brad and he confirmed that they are not the same but yes they can be made to work. And then lo and behold I have both a '61/'62 bracket and a '63/'64 bracket and pedals right here. I had forgotten I had the '61/'62 set. I took pictures of them side by side and will post them in a little bit.

It's not for me. I only need a clutch pedal and it is for a guy converting a '62 Cat auto car to std. shift and he is going to put a hydraulic clutch in it. Comparing the two sets I have side by side either one will work for him. The z bar and all that stuff are irrelevant to what he is doing.

Here are the pictures. The rusty one is '63 and the black one '61. The black one is actually a Fabcraft pedal I got from them ?? twenty years ago. As far as I can see the brackets are basically identical.
