Default Today's swap meet find

I bought this at a swap meet this morning - older people here may recognize what it is. Not something I really needed, but for the price I couldn't pass it up.

(It's an FM tuner that plugs into an 8 track tape player.)

Very cool! A friend used to have one of those on his 65 GTO. It was mounted in the glove box.

I had a Sparkomatic antenna booster (from that same era) laying around for the past thirty years. I installed it in my 74 TA and it greatly improved the FM radio reception for the factory red dot AM/FM.

Never seen one before, 8-track tape players were quickly being replaced by cassette players when I was in high school in the mid to late ‘70s.

Nice find, can’t go wrong for five bucks.

Bought my first car stereo in ‘78, a Pioneer Super Tuner FM cassette player that I still have. We all thought it was the greatest thing in the world back then.

My folks had a lake cabin, and one of our neighbors there had a 4 track player in their speedboat. Those things just never caught on very well.
I still have the 8 track player that I got for Christmas when I was a teenager, but it's been sitting in a box on the shelf for probably 40 years or more so I can't try this thing out at the moment. It will probably just go in the box with the player for now.

Would have loved to have stumbled on that. I always add the price of admission (divided by the number of pieces purchased) to each piece. There was not much in the way of Pontiac goodies. One score for me was this...

My first Pontiac was a 58 Star Chief that had the factory Sportable radio provision but the portable radio was gone. I picked up a 4 track player that fit right in the opening where the radio would go lol.

Very cool! I had one of these in my 65 Catalina back in 1992.

I have one of those Audiovox tuners as well, I bought it back in the day and never got around to installing it so it's still sitting in the original box out in the garage.

I remember having to wedge an empty match pack under one to get it to work right.

I have one of those, not sure what brand it is. It is in a box full of early 1970s 8-tracks. I have titles like Rare Earth, the Beatles, the Stones, Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Simon and Garfunkel, and I think Kansas. I'm not sure when I cut over to cassette tapes, but it was probably around 1975 or so.
