I am finishing my 71 Red with white top Judge clone, I just refinisheda set of Rally II wheels, no trim rings is correct I understand, they are 15", (the car came with aftermarket Cragars,) I was looking for input on the best tire brand and size to put on this good looking car-do I want a low profile "60" type tire or do I need to fill up the wheelwells with a "70" style tire, or its modern equivalent?

I've owned a bunch of '70 thru '72 GTO's and LeMans' and have experimented with various tire sizes quite a bit. The best fit and look I found was a G60-15 (bias ply) or a P255/60R15 radial. My current project is a '72 455HO GTO which will have repop 15" X 8" Rallye II wheels with P255/60R15 blackwall Goodyear Eagle GT II tires. Just my .02 worth!
Later, Lloyd

DC:
As far as I'm aware of, the '70's did come with 14" wheels only but in my opinion this body style looks, handles and rides MUCH better with 15" wheels. Later, Lloyd

Lloyd, any front clearance problems with 255's up front ? I've been thinking of going 255/60/15's at all 4 corners on my 69 but didn't know if the front would fit.

Berry:
My experience with 255's on the front is ONLY on the '70-'72 cars. On them, I get an ocassional very light rub only when turning sharply in reverse - and that IS running at stock ride height. Since the '69 had a slightly different wheel opening, I couldn't say how 255's would work out. Later, Lloyd
