1965 Transistor ignition coil numbers.
I have a 65 Catalina 421 tripower HO car that came with T/I ignition. My coil is tagged transistor ignition but it is #215. Is this a T/I coil? I can't find a reference to this number. Any help would be appreciated.

You might try posting a photo, also get out a good ohm-meter, measure & post the resistance in ohms from the + to the - side of the coil. As I can recall the 65-66 Delco TI coil has different ohms resistance than a standard points ignition coil.
Maybe you could tell from the ohms if it's right for a TI car. Or someone could have just put a sticker on it?

Will do. I will be at my car club tomorrow and will check the ohms and take some pics of the coil.

Hi Bill,
My folks have the same - 65 421 HO Catalina - my father ordered TI Ignition. I am not sure what was used when the car was back on the road in 2016 - it had been off since 1974. I shoot an e-mail to them and see what they come back with. |

hmmmm
resurected thread .............. what does this 1115189 transistor coil fit ,,,, I thought it was 65 ,,?? and what does my 1115005 amplifier module fit ,,, ?? 64-7 ? I find this one is assembly line correct for 64 65 with the rear cover that has the rounded edge,,,, and early gasket,,,, and early wiring plugs both are NOS .... no boxes...coil has never been in a bracket and the modual has no marks around the 3 mounting holes from ever having screws scrub the paint,,, Im thinkin of sellling them as I have no use for them I just need to list them correctly thanks Scott Last edited by Scott Thelander; 02-23-2024 at 03:35 AM. |

Hello Scott. My MPC does not show the 1115189 listed for Pontiac. The control unit asm,, amplifier, only has two numbers for 63-67. The 1115008 is 63-66 T.I. and the 1115010 is for the 67 T.I. Maybe a later MPC will show some more numbers.
