We were approached by a Pontiac enthusiast that is very serious about producing the original 1966 Tripower intake in aluminum. Tooling has already started. He has asked us to be his main source of distribution on this intake. There will be a very small margin on this item therefore there will be no room to wholesale it to other vendors. I wanted to get a feel for how many members would be interested in purchasing one assuming the quality is excellent and the price is around $425-$450.

Saw a pic of the new Barry Grant 2 bbls in the
latest issue of Circle Track magazine. Looks a great deal like the 500 cfm Holley 2 bbl.

I was hoping they were repoping the Mopar type
MECHANICAL 2 bbl carb (air horn was "D" shaped)
with the larger venturi main body.

For what they are going to charge for the clone of the Holley 2bbl you can put together two very nice Holley 2 bbl carbs. Both carbs will have to have part of the air cleaner ring removed but not
a big deal to fit on our new aluminum tri-powers!

As soon as I get one I will start posting the mods to fit them on the intake.

A new sample was just tested and it fits perfect. A final test with carbs, fuel lines, linkage etc on a running motor will take place this weekend. If there are no more suprises, we should start shipping intakes right after the holidays. We are contacting(by e-mail or phone) all who reserved an intake(s) to confirm whether you still want.

Tom,
You posted recently that you didn't think the new aluminum tripower could be ported to RAIV intake size. Would the same be true for a stock '66 iron manifold? I have acquired a spare '66 tripower intake and was thinking of trying to open up the ports/runners to match my ported 6X-4's.
Thanks,
Tim

Yea, what about carbs for this thing. Is anyone planning on repoping carbs?

Called the girl at PY today, Chris was out of town.

She is SUPPOSED to call Steve and find out about my three intakes. They are SUPPOSED to be drop
shipped from Steve's business but she could not get ahold of Him SUPPOSEDLY.

Still waiting (in my number one position).

I saw/felt/held/caressed one of these intakes here at POCI at PY's stand. It is the real deal! Shweet! I give it my personal seal of approval and suggest that if you want one you should order it up asap.
Even my wife (who knows little about Pontiac parts) claimed- "It's so light and easy to move around.. not like the ones you have sitting in the garage".

That says it all!

Quote by Steve on his site:

"1966 Pontiac aluminum tri power intake. After years of lugging around cast iron intakes I had enough. So I decided to do something about it. This was supposed to be a 6 month project but turned into a 3 year one. I have made 130 of these. Made from quality aluminum in the U.S., they weigh in at 14 lbs. Copied from an existing cast iron intake. Quality is superb. Price is $450 Limited time. Will throw in water neck with purchase."

WILL THROW IN WATER NECK WITH PURCHASE. Limited
time must have expired right before he had ours shipped. LOL!

Hope you did not hurt yourself.

We will see what happens this month. I am a patient person if I think good will come at the end of the waiting period. Tom V.

9 thousand, 9 hundred, and 62 looks and not one real intake yet.

Maybe when we get to 10,000?

The Barry Grant Carbs are supposed to flow 250 each. We will see!

Received my e-mail from Performance Years this morning, the intakes are ready to ship. I just called PY and paid for my intake, it will be drop shipped Monday from FL. Should have it next week, $450.00 plus shipping.

Steve's got a lot of money tied up in this intake. I don't blame him for wanting to get some back real quick. I'm sure he will be honoring all the backorders we have very soon. We'll be calling all of you that have reserved one. Give it about a week or so.

On a related note, we are very close to releasing a 3 q-jet carb set for this intake. It will use oem linkage but a unique fuel line and fitting kit. Not for the purist, but a reasonable price solution and an overall stock appearance. See PY stuff for pics and details in March.

I'm on the phone with the guy as we speak. Problems! Intakes are cast but the machining process has yielded problems. A new machining company is now involved. Another 2 weeks or so and we'll have a better idea of when we can finally start getting intakes.

Then maybe I should wait for the second run on this manifold. I want optomin air flow with a retro look. !!!!!!! Not just a aluminum manifold.
No offence intended Chris.
