I own a 74 Firebird Esprit with a 350/350. I am looking to move up to a 400 or a 455 (if I can find one). What cars should I be looking for in the salvage yards that would have what I am looking for, what cars are more likely to have a 455 and what years will have propure engine mounting. Any help I can get before I start looking will be great. Thanks!

Is the front sway bar different from mine if I go to a 455?

I live by Hazen which is about an hour NW of Bismarck. BTW I went to Wahpeton too! Back in its NDSSS days.

I have the same car that I will be going with the 455. Like was previously said all the stuff you have from the 350 will work on the 455 or 400.

itsabrd Iam parting out a 74 t/a that had a 455 eng. i still have the motor mount brackets that bolt to the frame, they are much larger than those 350 brackets you have on your car. I also have the sterring gear box, front sway bar, turbo 400 crossmember. let me know If you need these [email protected] or 305 688 5430 thanks.

itsabrd,
If you wouldn't be so far away (I'm in Pennsylvania), I have a 1974 455 shortblock YX code that would fit perfectly in your car. Mark

Welcome aboard itsard! Any 70 and up 400 or 455 will fit. All the mounts and brackets from your 350 will fit either engine. As for a choice its only a matter of if you want to go fast or faster.
