Hi there, I am trying to figure out what are the correct door panels for a 78 SE TA 4spd Black on Black car. I have seen so many pictures of SE Trans Am's and the door panels are different types... does some one has any pictures that he can post... Any help would be appreciated...

P Danny,
the blue door panels in your picture are most commonly found on 1977 & earlier models. However, I've heard that some of these "older" style door panels (like in your picture) may have been left over from the 77 model year and used in some early 78 models. In short, these older style panels may be correct for your car if it made during the first few months of the 1978 model year. db

Danny,
That is what the 77 and earlier deluxe panels look like. There are differances in those years between deluxe and standard panels also but the 2 piece panels are for 77 and earlier. ( 2 piece is the hard plastic bottom half and vinyl top half. If you truly have a 1978 TA,, you should have one of the first 2 styles I posted above. You can send off for a PHS ( Pontiac Historic Services) packet for around 30 dollars and they send you an original invoice and many other nice thing about your car.

Pontiac Danny,
It all depends on if you have a deluxe or standard interior if you want it to be correct. A standard interior will have a flat door panel with heat pressed seams running up and down and a strip of chrome running across the upper part of the panel from side to side. The standard interior seats have pleats running up and down the seats with buttons in the leanback just below the headrest section. A deluxe style interior door panel will be padded and have carpet along the bottom with a pocket in the carpet near the front and a strip of chrome running in an almost circular shape on the door panel that surrounds the door handle, arm rest, and etc. The seats in a deluxe style for 78 will have the "pillow inserts and pleats going across the seats.
