I'm currently making a 69 Lemans into a GTO clone. When the last owner painted the car, they filled in the Lemans Arrowhead hole so I want to put the GTO marking lights on the qaurter panel. Can I just mark the hole pattern for the lens using the bezel as a template and cut it out with a hacksaw? I am hesitant to cut into the metal. Is there a way to flush mount them and just drill two holes for the bexel and a 3rd hole for the light to come through? Does anyone know the location? It looks like the top of the bezel is even with the top of the rear bumper, but how far in from the end of the quarter panel do they go? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the input. Any idea where I can find the exact location? Are there any templates available anywhere - the Fisher body manual and molding manual doesn't show any measurements. Tks.

One thing I did do is trim the lens to the inside of the bezel and it can be flush mounted. Not the correct way but you can't tell by looking at it.

THanks Jeff. I'm not looking to deceive anyone, just making the lemans convt into a GTO Clone. THe previous owner started it - GTO hood and bumper and 400 engine. They painted the car and took ALL emblems off. So, I've put the GTO Grill emblem, fender and trunk emblems, plus got new GTO tail light lenses and bezels. Only GTO experts will know it's not a GTO - but it will never be presented by me as a GTO, only a GTO clone. Since it's a cnvt it's still ptretty rare.

The entire lens for '69 quarter light fits through the quarter panel, there isn't a hole just for the light socket. The outer edge of the lens can not be used as the template for if you do, the area cut out will be too large and the lens would merely fall through. Try the inner edge of the gasket on a piece of scrap metal before doing any cutting on the quarter. You also need to put the light in the proper position else if it isn't it will be a sure tell-tale sign of a clone.

wehn i did my car i used the quarter panel from a 69 gto on one side and then a patch panel on the other side. The side that had the patch panel I cut a piece of teh same side gto quarter panel to use as a template. Marked the hole and cut. Follow me? I can try to get a picture for you if you would like.
