Ok need need some ideas for traction on the street. I went out last night and got spanked big time. on the track I hook fine the street I spin like on ice. I was on slicks too. I'm think of going from a 10x26 to a 11.5x26 or 28 and see if that helps. also I'm running a non posi. but that dosn't really matter since they both hook with the way I have the suspention set up. but I am going with a posi. big problem is the gears I have in the posi rearend are 3.08's. i'm worried that if I go to a 3.08 and a 28 ich tall tire i will lose all the gear I have. but will this help it spin less? or will it spin worse like my boss keeps telling me? I think the 3.08's and 28 will work great with nitrous. the way it is now there is no way I would ever hook on nitrous.
basicly both cars I raced where proably slower cars, but they hooked and I spun. I hate that sonce the car had always hooked. would putting in the ultradyne cam I have help? I belive it makes less low end TQ and way more HP. just wanting some ideas and thoughts. |

Well i think your supposed to have a slight down pinion angle under full load, like 2 degrees.
I know they recomend like 5-7 degrees down angle on leaf spring equipped cars that are primarilly race, and no more than 5 degrees on street driven cars. Least that is what i have read. Mike |

my ol 91 GTA used to hook up great... 1.68 (with 255/60/15 road stars) was only a 12.6 tuneport with 3.73(100% stock suspention BUT had the advantage of DA KID driving..lol)

<---- total lack of self control!
your right but I do get to race the formula all motor this week the mustang claimed he ran 7.6's on motor it was my first night out racing in a year or so, so it was good to get put in my place I guess. at least I didn't loose and money |

would making the TQ arm adjustable, help a bunch?
I could adjust the pinion angle and that should help. |

I'ts called self-control. I race with a few buddies on the street evey once in a while. We all have cars in the 11.0 to 12.0 range and NOBODY hooks on the street. I leave just off idle and roll on the throttle. The trick is to get the car rolling a little before hitting w.o.t. Also a little VHT in a spray bottle helps. Just be sure to spray it on and then drive a 1/2 mile or so. I also warm the tires by driving on them. Burnouts on asphalt will chew up the slicks fast! P.S. I keep the VHT in a tire dressing bottle so nobody asks any questions, He HE

lol, how about stuffing my friend rodney in the hatch? Oh yeah that still didn't work.
he's kinda crazy or used to be, he used to hang off the back of a friends tailgate of his el camaino for traction, it worked too! but his wife didn't care for him sitting over the rear end of my car?!?!?!!!?! all he said was don't blow up the rearend anyway I don't feel so bad, even with bad traction if found out I was getting sprayed on big time! so I'll do a little work and ease into it and spank them both I think i'll also go to a 3.45:1 gear the 3.23's work ok, but it seems to need more gear, everyone I talked to told me how badass the topend was on my car so, I need to fix that so far, i'm going to make the tq arm adjustable get soem 11.5X28's more gear 3.45's also a P-track this time too what should I adjust the pinion angle to? the TQ arm is like a long a$$ ladder bar right in the middle of the car for you guys that havn't seen or messed with one. any other ideas? |

why 90 10? they stockers 90-10 just fine
would aftermarkets work anybetter? I'll see if I can post the video of the car leaving it goes up in the front GOOD always has. it does everything that it should, at the track I hook fine pull 1.6's and run 7.5's in the 1/8. but on the street it just iceskates. my stockers get full extention in like a millasecond and come back down pretty slow. works just like any 90-10 I have ever seem. works better than my friends HALS! I know the pinion anagle is change somewhat due to the aftermarket tq arm bracket and the tq arm sits in the stock OLD rubber on the aftermarket braket. it's worn smooth out. I'm gussing bigger tires is the main thing with the 26's I have no foot print. I bet it would hook better with a 28X10 but I might as well go with some 11's OH and on the rad hose it's just a ealry 80's A/G body with a 301, basicly anything on this car you have to think as if GM would have built it with a 301, and whats the closest thing you can get. |

Well once you get the tires to spinning with the 3.08s they will definatley spin faster LOL and you wont hook. But from the way i have always been told the higher the gear the harder it is to get em to spin. Its like being on a ten speed bike and trying to take off in 10th gear.
I run 3.73s and a posi and 26X10.50X15 Mt street Et's and at the track i CANT get em to spin, but on the street even after i have driven on them or warmed them up they still spin like mad. So gota be careful when running those kinda fast ricers if there is such a thing LOL Mike |

anyway it hooks good on a smooth slick street, like out in front of our shop, but this groved pavement BS it don't hook for *****. |
