hey everyone,
I'm wondering about the leaf springs on my car. I'm replacing the springs, bushings, shackles, pads and hardware. The springs I took off my car had 6 leafs. I got my springs through Eaton Spring in Detroit and they said that many folks back in the 80's put Nova 6 leaf springs on their F body to firm up the ride and get better launches. What I'm wondering is if anyone else has the "Nova" set up on their car and since I'm converting back to a 4 leaf set up how will this effect the ride and the stance of my car? Also why don't you want to mix and match poly and rubber bushings? I was gonna put poly's in the rear because they fit better than the rubber OER replacements I got. Thanks |

Man those poly bushings are really tight. I cleaned up the rear frame shackle mount real good and I could barely push those bushings into place. The rubber ones just slide right in but the poly's are so tight I don't think if the time ever comes I'll be able to get them out. Are they supposed to be that tight??

yes you can mix poly and rubber in fact you want to keep rubber in the front and rear leaf spring eyes and put poly in the rear frame part,as far as the leaf springs go 6 leafs does not allways mean that it will be stiffer than 4, the WS6 4 leaf were stiffer than the std. 5 leafs you need to look at the spring arch and rate.
