Can someone please offer some instruction as how to paint the 6.5 emblem on the GTO rocker panel molding for a'67. Also is there a good way to polish the moldings while they are on the car. Thanks in advance

I haven't done the outside emblems yet on my '66 (same as '67), but I already did the emblems on the door panels. I taped off the top half, then sprayed the entire bottom half with black. Then I taped off the bottom half and sprayed the entire top half with red. Once everything was coated to my liking and dry, I used a plastic scraper (you can make one from a piece of plexiglas) to remove the paint from all of the high spots and the GTO letters. I finished by polishing the chrome with 0000 steel wool. I don't know if I got the exact shade of red, but they look brand new now. I wouldn't try this on the car.

I polished the emblems first with a light finishing compound using a q tip to get the tight spots ...then cleaned with laquer thinner......and the did a similar method with the paint ....finishing by wetsanding with a 600 grit sandpaper very lightly on the edges..as for polishing the moldings i also used a 600 grit paper wet sanding(400 in some of the rough areas)..and then polished with the finishing compound..very time comsuming but it turned out great...I also did this off of the car...I suppose it can be done on the car but you may have to visit you local chiropractor after...good luck ...I have a 67 also..
