Hi,

I want to use a mech. fuel pump with a 1/2 fuel line (rear to front). My engine produces 400 hp and is street used.

Is it correct to join a 1/2 line to a smaller inlet of a pump (3/8 or 1/4) or the best is to enlarge the inlet of the pump ?

If this 1/2 inlet pump that doesn't require regulator exists (6-8 psi ), let me know.

400 HP? You dont need anything more than the stock fuel system. Beleive it or not a guy here races a 70 judge that has run a best of 10.94 with a bone stock fuel system. Hes making close to 600 HP. Spend your money elsewhere.

I agree with Bruce. My car just dynoed at 420 hp at the rear wheels and I am just using the stock fuel line setup with a Carter mechanical pump..no problems.

I'd say you're going to have a hard time moving that volume of fuel with a mechanical. You might consider an electric "pusher" pump back at the tank.

Really need to looks at the fact that it might be hard to keep the Bowl full on your carb especially if its a Q-Jet, they are the worst to keep full, and a Mechanical pump might not do the job.
