My observation during the last 6 - 8 months leads me to believe the GTO market is no longer to the average white collar man or woman, its now entering a higher socio economic level. I`m not so sure of a price drop anytime soon like the model T because of baby boomers expiring from age, retirement, etc. I am on the tail end of the boomer generation at 41. I`m keeping my 70` that i`ve had for four years. Its been better than my stocks by far. Younger folks may want to consider an 04 or 05 GTO

That car was at the Garden State GTO show last October. Car was nice, but wasn't perfect. For $180,000 I wold expect perfect, but that's just me. I don't know the owner, but I heard he was very upset that his car didn't win the show (came in Third, I believe).

looks like a very nice car. i understand the buyer wanting to keep bidders pivate. i have sold on ebay before and it keeps others from contacting your bidders to try and sell them there cars saving them time and money to list theres. i also dont think he is on crack he is just aware of the market and he has a rare car in nice shape. noted he no sold at well over $197000.00 theres alot to be said about the muscle car market. supply and demand

If I recall, the thread I had mentioned earlier wasn't about prices. It was about the rude responses this Tony character gave people.

Besides, your money comment is a red herring. That being said, people have the right to sell their items and do so with without harrassment, but when you ask prices like he does, he makes himself susceptible to that kind of behavior.

only had one fellow actually visit to see the car (and he wasn't the winning bidder)

Before i bid that kind of $$$, I first want a copy of PHS doc's ordered by me, and delivered to me. Then i fly in with my trusty spec code book in hand and spend an hour or two "under the hood'.
Then check out other doc's.

if I can't do these things successfully, it's a waste of $$

I believe the 70 ram iv convert was really sold in the 350-370 k range. VERY RELIABLE SOURCE. The car was not numbers matching either.The block was a restamp. As for Tony,Is he even a licensed dealer?? All the cars are kept in a storage facility. I thought there was guidelines to keep a dealers license.Like having a lot or wharehouse and a bathroom and an office. Maybe he still uses the florida license because theres no buisness address up there is there?? 70 RAMAIR455 I think its great that you defend this guy Tony because your a true friend but I feel you are misinformed of his actions. He even takes ads from other private sellers and dealers and uses their pics and puts their cars on his website at a much higher price. he has been threatened with lawsuits over this. Makes up lots of stories for his cars and trys to glorify them. Does anyone know why they ran him out of Florida???

Check out the discussion under "Wanted 69 or 70 RAIV Judge". Several members suggest reasons for keeping the bidders' identities private. I agree with you though, it does make me suspicious.

Sounds like a lot of bitter people dicussing this Tony fellow whom I don`t know. Simple, if you don`t have the money your not buying. If you can`t afford one from someone else, your not buying it either. Heres some good advice to the young, stay in school,college, don`t blow your money on foolishness and maybe one day you can own a 69 -70 Judge. Yes, prices are going up and no one can stop the trend.

I don't think the real beef with Tony or anyone else are high prices. What bothers me is that the customclassic site at least implies that the cars were sold at the prices listed. If these were only the asking prices and if the cars sold for substantially less, then this fact should be clearly stated. At least in the case of the black RAIV convertible Judge, I was told the $750,000.00 plus price was the actual sales price. Does anyone have information about what price the car actually sold for?

I love this site and CP's forum but I can't stand the crybaby stuff about prices too high. SWEETJUDGE says the younger generation will never get to enjoy the hobby because of high prices - but he can make a dream come true for some young guy by selling his Judge for a cheap price! As a matter of fact my son would love to buy a Judge at a price of 10-15 years ago. SWEET ... are you offering? You see what gets me is this ... we all want to BUY at cheap prices but SELL at the highest prices. Hypocritical is all this complaining is.

As for putting down Tony from Custom Classics ... I've never bought a car from him (and either has ANYONE ELSE that has put him down on both boards) but I have known him personally for the past 4 years and spent alot of time with him. A lot of time and I've seen how he coaches kids (my son wrestles for him) and he is a great influence on young men. Puts countless hours in for NO $$$.

I know that doesn't mean anything about his selling cars ... but it DOES MEAN MORE THAN SOME RUMORS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER BOUGHT A CAR FROM HIM OR SPENT ANY TIME WITH HIM!

I've seen his cars. Expensive ... yes. Overpriced ... maybe. But that means I don't buy the car ... it doens't mean I malicicously badmouth him. I don't buy a 430 Ferrari Spyder either ... but I don't call the owner of the Ferrari dealership all sorts of names.

For all of you crybabies about today's prices ... sell me your GTO's for prices of even 5 years ago and I'm buying and you'll be doing the hobby good by giving access to more people!
