Trying to make sense of this. Bruce Fulper's name keeps coming up in talks about good Pontiac performance engine builders. He runs a Q&A in another forum, and appears to have his own fan base. Other sites, including pontiacwarriors.com, slam him and warn others to stay away from him.

There are so few good Pontiac builders as it is. It would be a waste of a good resource if we let misinformation get in the way of us seeking help from a good engine builder.

Does anyone have experience with Bruce Fulper's work?

They took so long to be drop shipped not because they had to be made, but because they had to be paid for by Bruce first.

He hasn't mellowed. It just seems that way because he has lost most of his outlets from which to spew his venom, and you haven't had the opportunity to hear it.

Travis,

I don't think YOU ARE BEING BASHED?

Just because someone doesn't agree with you or questions you doesn't mean they are bashing you. You are new here (less than a week) and jump right in to start a subject about someone who others on this board have had a problem with. Your first thing you should have done is go to search and search for both names (Bruce Fulper and Rock & Roll Eng.), then read ALL THE POSTS that came up, gone to the web sites and then decided IF you wanted to comment or just keep silent.

I personally have never dealt with the man and because of the problems and attitudes I have read about will not.

I build my own engines except for the heads, and block machine work and I know that it's hard to find good competent machinest you can trust. With that said most of us have to rely on word of mouth advertising to find a good shop. I've heard enough on this forum to know that Bruce is the last person that I would trust with my stuff. There are several that I would trust, Pontiac Dude, Paul Spotts, come to mind right off the bat, never trust your pride and joy to someone that you have heard bad things about

sounds like too much gear. Would you consider 3.73?

I've delt with Bruce for a couple of years. The only problem I've ever had was not getting things when promised. My son has met with him. Says he reminds him alot of me. My son just purchased a 428 shortblock from Bruce. He sent his e-heads purchased from Bruce a couple of years ago, hand ported not cnc. Bruce picked the cam Andy assembled the engine. They dynoed it at Westech, but dyno results, like flow numbers don't mean anything. Cam specs, a degree wheel and dial indicator i can figure them out myself. The engine is in a 1970 Firebird 10 inch continental converter, manual valvebody turbo 400,4.11 12 bolt,cal-trac bars, stock 15x7 front 15x8 alluminum wheels street radials on front 28x12.50x15 M/T ET Street rear.Street car will pass inspection in Texas with tailpipes. Has 3 1/2 inch bullet mufflers and turndowns right now. Has an interior. 8 point roll bar. Fiberglass front bumper and scoop. Took it to River City Raceway a couple of weeks ago. First pass left off idle shifted at 5500 shift light came on about three quater track it startled him (my son) he lifted ran 11.40. Second pass tried to load converter a little bit spun lifted ran 11.11. Third run left off idle 1.69 60ft best ever ran 10.89 at 126 shifting at 5500. Carb is old 850 Holley. All motor no nitrous. Also 11.43 compression with 93 octane Texaco pump gas. Will be going to Little River this weekend, Saturday for the street meet. For you guys from Austin, yes it is that black one that had the e-head 400,its been redone since last year.

Hey as an Arizona resident from just outside PHOENIX, I want to make sure "Travis" there was not referring to my fair city with his comment that he is from "PHX."

I am quite comfy maintaining at least 500 miles between myself and those Schlock&Troll Engineering criminals over in southern california at all times. I suggest that anyone wanting to build a quality Pontiac engine without getting ripped off do the same.

Well 71Lemanz, I just want to say "THANKS" for giving this dumbass Foolper a hard time. It's amazed me as I've read the stuff on this board regarding him. I know for a fact I wouldn't have been able to control myself if I would have had a similer experience...I believe serious harm would have come to him! And of course, I would have to pay the consequences. Hard to believe he's made it this far and hasn't been jumped by at least one of his "customers".

A wise decision!

Usually I'm found working on my Pontiac. If you want to find me Look for the white picket fence and all the old Pontiacs parked outside. And the half dissembled engine sprawled all over the driveway!
