Hello guys,

I have question about block decking. Does the engine have to be torn down to bare block or can a machine shop 0 deck a block in short block form?

The reason I am asking is I bought a running 400(air breather to oil pan) with only 54,XXX miles out of a 76 bonny to put in my 79 T/A. I was planning or redoing the top end: RA4 cam, 62 heads, and 4barrel intake and carb. Plus new timing chain and gears. I did not want to touch the bottom end. If my calculations are correct the 62 head will put me above 10:1 CR and I thought 0 decking would be a good idea.

Thanks
Chris
