Im fixing up a car for the first time and im gonna completely redo the entire interior.. i have a 74 firebird espirit & my front seats are pretty much shot.. so im not sure if i should try to get them reapholstered or just get some racing seats for now.. i want to keep it between 3-400.. so i was wondering how much other people have paid and if they didnt keep it stock what kinda seats did you end up getting.. im not really worried about keeping everythiong stock...

The 74 Esprit should have come with the deluxe seats. You may or may not need foam to go with the seat covers. It depends how good or bad your seats are under the covers. It also generally depends on the weight of the previous owner(s) as a heavy person will flatten out the foam and may even crack the seat framework itself. New seat covers installed can run $500 or more, especially if you need new foam. Also bear in mind that the 2nd generation Firebird seats did not have any reclining ability if that is of importance to you. They are usually pretty comfortable when done the right way, especially the deluxe seats.

thanks for the reply.. yea there the deluxe seats and are still comfortable but i need to change the color plus there pretty worn.. are there any good alternatives out there besides getting mine reapholstered? ive done some looking around and all i really find are racing seats and i want something with more comfort.. im not too worried about keeping it exactly stock as long as it feels and looks good...

I would say just buy the upholstery kit from one of the many vendors and install it yourself. Should be able to get a complete set...front and rear......for under $400.

I would redo the original seats. It would be cheaper then buying a new set of seats. Im sure you can get a cheap set of seats from summit, but they look like crap.
