I am wondering what would be the best way to store my goat during the winter. I am thinking about the battery tender. What else could I do? Thanks boys. Goats forever I am in the north east area.

This is what i do..here in WI...i get her up to temp ,then sit in her and think about spring for awhile,lol...then i dump tranny fluid down the car till she starts smoking then i shut it off....cover the carb with a plastic garbage bag tie it off,unhook the battery put it on a battery tender in the basement,cover the tail pipes.with cans or something,put bounce dryer sheets everywhere in the car,trunk and underhood,and say goodnight to her

I change the oil and filter and a good car wash cleaning. Take it out for a small run. Place plastic on cement garage floor and drive onto it. Disconnect battery and put it in basement. Cover the car with soft car cover cause sometimes kids will use the hood for a shelf.

Hi,
What about varmit control? I've heard of guys putting mouse poison in the trunk and under the seats to ward off these pests. I would hate to have my wiring eaten during the winter hibernation.

i read in a some magazine that irish spring(original) soap in the car keeps the mice away. wonder if it really works.

I don't have a heated shop, and my engine hasn't been started/broken in yet. Is this bad for it to sit out in the cold? Will it get condensation in it?

I'm trying to get it fired up here before it gets reallly cold here. Thanks.

I tried the dryer sheet trick last year only to find in the spring when I removed the rear seat to remove the dryer sheets I found a mouse nest made of seat backing and dryer sheets but It does make the car smell fresh.

Darn! I was just thinking that the dryer sheet trick sounded like a good idea. I have used mothballs in my cars for 20 years to keep the mice out and have never had any mouse damage. I live on a farm and stored my cars in a barn until having a garage built last year. The downside to this is that your car smells like mothballs inside. Just about the time that the smell is gone it is time to put the car in winter storage again. Given a choice, I will take the mothball smell over chewed wires and upholstery.
