Just trying to clear the air a bit for a possible new member, If you have, or can confirm the existance of a '70 black judge please let it be known... 6 choices for interior color, let us know that also if you can. There is one in Missouri for sale with a red interior for 75K...There is also one in Minnesota with a black interior that I think can be bought for 65K...both RAM III cars(Numbers matching? I think). There is also a Ram IV black interior
basic basket case for sale in New York I think for @40K but the original engine is gone. I was interested in how many could actually be documented. Seems to me the rarity of this color needs to be discused a bit further, or I would like it to be.... Thanks, DougP.S. I'm still looking for an uncut dash bezel for my '70 Judge, anyone????? |

Doug: you never told me whether you need a/c or non a/c bezel. I'll take your money just as well as anyone else will. So long as you don't paint your car Green.
CDN2PLS2 might have "ballpark" figures on this number for black. I only personally know of a Triple Black Ram IV 4speed J-Vert, but haven't seen it since 1992 or 1993. Was being stored at a friends building until he moved to another location. It was Sweet ! In my area about 8 out of 10 70 Judges were factory RED that I have known past and present. Like it was the Staple Color 1970 alternative answer for people who didn't get or have chance to buy an Orange one new in 1969. Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 12-18-2005 at 09:54 PM. |

Ok, I have only seen the PHS on the Minnesota car. So there is one documented black '70 judge with a black interior ram air III 4spd. I proclaim myself as the keeper of the knowledge on this info... so there is 1 confirmed black '70 judge.
I doubt if I get too many other contributions of info though, probably 150 cars out there were black, but they all are "the only ones known" with a red interior, or green or blue...wait was there not a RAM IV car with hubcaps lately for sale with a blue interior??? Just as a side bar......Is my judge they only "console delete" HA! car, with a rear defroster and a power seat |

The 70 black/red was owned and sold by a member of this forum not too long ago. Then the new owner auctioned the car, along with a 70 orbit car which he owned.
Hey Baron, stop picking on those green cars! You must be jealous. |

Wonder if Steve Ames has one. Anybody go through his "open house" lately ?
I'd like to see his Cars someday I think Black will be about the lowest number or real close. Due to most of these Cars being bought to be Driven Daily at that time, Black is a B*tch to keep up on a daily driver. I like Black best on about every year model. One passed through my hands in Alabama about 1988 and it was a numbers matching all original black on black with rust holes in the quarters you could through a football through. A good friend bought it and put a rear clip on it-painted it-then sold it for a good profit.

I think black is middle of the pack. I can think of other colors that are rarer.

I've seen a list that estimated that approximately 125 Black Judge coupes left the factory in '70.

TO PLEASE PROVIDE THE PY FORUM WITH THE COLOR BREAKDOWN FROM JM AT {PHS} IT WOULD BE THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS PRESENT ! ALONG WITH A 1970 BLACK RAM AIR IV CONVERTIBLE -- SPEAKING OF 1970 JUDGE BLACK RAM AIR IV CONVERTIBLE . THE AUTOMATIC RAM AIR IV JUDGE IS GOING TO BE SOLD AT A FLORIDA AUCTION . Can anybody tell me how many RAIII and RAIV judge hardtops were made in 1970. And if possible, 4-speed vs auto?
Reason I ask is that I drive by a hardtop 1970 Judge parked in a backyard in N. Reading Ma about once a week. It is uncovered but not in bad shape as far as I can see. It moves from spot to spot every now and then so I assume it is in running condition. From the street, it looks like might say RA IV on the scoop but I can't get close enough to confirm. I hear through the grapevine the guy is looking for 40K+ as it sits so I'm just wondering how rare this car is in terms of production numbers. I know it worth good money just for being a Judge but all I can find is that there was 3604 judges made in 1970. |
