Depends on what his definition of a little bit of rust is. Aftermarket body parts for these cars are almost non-existent. pics would be helpful in determining the worht of the car. What kind of shape is the interior in? Does the dash pad have cracks?

Default Can Am

Billy pretty much hit it on the nose.
Theres a point when its a restoration, and theres a point where the car is just a donor.
Hope it works out for you.
if not post it and I'm sure someone might be interrested.
(me?)

Nobody is accusing you of BSing. Just wondering where you went. It took you 7 months to reply to your own thread. Hope nothing bad happened in those 7 months!

That cars in Texas. I had already talked to a guy about it and the owner wanted way to much money at the time.

Default meanwhile, getting back to the thread, this is a thread about a Can AM, isn't it?

If you really feel bad about the car just sitting there, post the contact information and let someone else have a crack at it. The guy might sell when he sees a couple of Ben Franklins waving at him. It wouldn't be worth the money it would take to put it back on the road, but it is definitely worth parting out. I see a good spoiler and shaker, and under that protective layer of dust there may be some interior parts worth salvaging. It even has all four Rally 2 center caps to go with those wheels.

The car is located in Texas, but the location is undisclosed and its not going anywhere soon. Its a complete car with its W72 400. Its pretty rusty as you can see, but I wouldn't say its a parts car. The only way I'll ever buy it is if the owner comes down on the price, hes tried to sell it to me a lot, but hes pretty firm on $2500.
Unless I missed something here, you aren't letting anyone know where it is.

As for rust, have you seen some of the crusty muscle cars being restored? If someone truely wants a Can Am, then I think this car is worth saving. Out of the roughly 1300, who knows how many are left? If nobody wants this thing, I might just have to buy it later on down the road when I have some more room/bread. I think these CA's are a great investment and will definately bring some bucks down the road and we all know this. If you remember how the GTOs were and look at how the TA's have shot up recently, I even see the '80-81 301 cars bringing some crazy prices.
I'm still unsure of your intent, you hint around like you really want it sold, yet you repeatedly refuse to put anyone in contact with the owner. If he really wants to sell it, it shouldn't matter who he sells it to, as long as he gets paid.
Are you offering to broker this car? That always works.

One sold last week on E-bay for $1500, hit hard in the passengers rear, and had the wrong motor, so they are going up, but $2500???
