Seat Covers
Anybody ever recover their seats by themselves? How was it? Also, Where can I find a seat cover for a 68 Tempest with the split bench and no armrest. I thought the GTO cover was worked but i was alerted that they were differnt because of the fold down armrest. Im pretty sure the back seat is the same. Might a chevelle split bench cover work? thanks

As far as installation, it's not bad. Patience pays, have a large clean work area, turn the seat backs inside out and roll them on. Some recommend using a light silicon spray, but I have never found the need. You should grab a set of hog ring pliers if your covers don't come with a cheapie. Regular pliers will work, but the right ones make things much faster with less risk of a slip. Take photos before stripping the old ones if you think you might not remember exactly how some areas attach.
The GTO and Tempest seat backs are different. I have 2 '68 Tempest Custom Convertibles, one with a split bench (with headrests). I have had no luck finding a cover for it yet. The chevelle will have a different pattern, don't know if they have an armrest. Good luck. |
