Cant seem to get her started again!
Well After being away for 2 months in the summer and about another month of neglect i cant get my 67 started. When i left she was running fine no trouble on start up whatsoever. About a year ago I had the same trouble starting her and after changing a fuel filter and getting a new battery she started right up. Now the new battery i bought has been beat on pretty badly because i didnt know there was a short in the electrical system somewhere and left the battery connected bam battery was drained to nothing. So im not to confident in my battery to begin with. The car is cranking so the battery is not dead but i just have a feeling its not getting enough juice to start. I tried some starter fluid and that ignites but she wont stay on. Also when i put starter fluid in doesnt crank right. Like it will hesitate and get stuck then go a little bit and repeat. Im in a tough spot because I bought somebody elses project so i dont know the work that has been done. Im at a point where i just feel like starting from scratch. What do you guys think? Clogged fuel line or filter? bad battery? any suggestions?

can you see the gas squirt in the carb. if you look down the inside of the carb and pump it?
It might just be the pump needs primed, I have filled the carb through the air horn and it will run for alittle while till the pump can suck enough to keep it going.

After you try what cjawood suggested, and there is fuel, take out a spark plug, put wire back on and lay it on head or manifold. Have someone crank engine and watch for spark.
More then likely it's fuel unless mice chewed wires.

I havent checked to see if fuel was going in yet hopefully this weekend ill get a chance. I put a fresh set of plugs in b4 i left it for the summer so i dont think its spark related unless a boot is loose or something like that. Gap should be .045 right?

get yourself a squeeze spray bottle and put about a cup of gas in it. Put a couple of squirts in the carb and have someone turn it over. If it starts or tries to start, keep squirting the gas and see if it keeps running. If it does, keep it running that way for a little and see if it starts running by itself. If it doesn't, I suspect that you have bad gas.
The solution is to drain the tank and replace about a gallon of gas. Run it dry and then repeat the process. It's always advisable to run the tank way down periodically to get rid of any gas that might be ready to go stale. Rich |

suggestion dont spray gas into a cranking or running motor as if it back fires it]flame] can follow the gas spray to the bottle and blow up! Put a little gas down the carb and try to start it repeat as needed. If u dont run the car often put some Stabilt in the tank it keeps the gas voitile[sic]. Use premium as it doesnt go bad as fast. Rap on the carb at the inlet but not hard enough to break anything as maybe the needle valve is stuck in side the carb

pull the dist cap off they tend to get corroded if they sit for a long time
