i own a 68 firebird 400.. and i've got a few wires left under the hood... coming out of the firewall
above the heating box ,a little to the right there is a 2" hole in the firewall(original) and there are 4 wires coming out... a brown, yellow, orange, and blue one (all not striped) and i don't know what there for..... i can't find them in my shop manual.... i think there coming out of the heater.. can anyone tell me what there for.... and tell me if i need them???? i have never used one of these wires..... the car was originally equipt whit AC ... but that was before I got born... thanks, paul verkleij the netherlands

There are wires from the AC wiring harness which head through the firewall. I have not traced them as they enter and leave the harness in a couple different points. Here's a '68 AC wiring diagram that might help. Note that I have seen wiring in the AC circuit inwhich the colors differ from the diagram. If you want I can go out and see if I can figure where each go. Let me know.

Not that jim needs validation
but he nailed it on the head...right down to wire colors that don't match diagrams.

not to mention that the lettering on the diagrams is, in places, too small to read

so i don't need these wires at all...
than i'm going to push the wires back in to the firewall and start welding... thanks, paul verkleij |

You don't need them if you are not going to have AC...weld away!
