I had Stockton build new steel wheels in the sizes and backspacing that I need to put 12" rotors up front and 275-60's in the back of my '67 Lemans. They told me it would be six weeks until my wheels shipped, and they came three or four days earlier than that.

Great phone communication and they built and sent exactly what I had orded. The powder coating was nice as well. I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

I ordered a set 17X8" standard steel wheels, was told I needed to send a 100% deposit and that it would take 6 weeks.

Making them up required that the 15" wheels centers be built-up with added material on the OD to mate up with the 17" rims. Not quite as simple as making up a set of 15" wheels, but certainly not a huge project either.

It took 6 months to get my wheels, and only after making phone calls to them every 2 weeks to prod them along. Nobody at Stockton Wheel ever called me to let me know how the wheels were progressing or as to why there was a delay. :confused:

They already had my money (sent them a check) so I was pretty much at their mercy.

I heard every excuse, the worst being they had a a hard time finding 4 15" GM centers that were close to the same. Give me a break.:rolleyes:

This was about 10 years ago, so things may have changed there.

Never again for me.:gag:

My fronts are 17"x7"x4.5" bs, my rears a 15"x8"x5.5 bs, so I am familiar with the whole larger than 15" steel wheel issue. I found your post (and a few others) and was kind of nervous, but everything worked out in the end, so I am very pleased. They did a great job on the powder coating as well.

That's the thing with negative OR positive reviews left on public forums for any business, one person's experience can be drastically different than anothers or a business can improve or go down hill in a month's time, much less ten years!

My latest experiences have proven that to me, the business that has some negative comments on PY gave me great service and the one that had only (at the time of me sending payment in full) had people raving about them is yet to fulfill their obligation.

To get back on subject, I would recommend them to anyone looking for custom steelies and highly recommend BOB as the person to call with your order.

I had the opposite experience.....

Six weeks = six months,they had my money & 4 sets of wheels as cores too,and when I finally got them back they were'nt even 100% true,two of them take a ton of weight to balance no matter what tires go on them,and checked runout and it was what I could best term "borderline"...

I was'nt even gonna mention the fact they were off a 1/2" from the offset I asked for as I was trying to fit some wider tires on my '74 ventura which is a tough car to fit wider tires in the rear on.

In the end all that money only moved the offset about a 1/4" - 1/2" at the most.

Stockton Wheel gave me the run around more than any company I have ever dealt with.

I am building a 63 SD Tempest replica. I wanted plain steels all the way around. I ordered 8" wide wheels for the rear so I could measure the width so that I could order my rear end. At this point it all went down hill.

I made the mistake of telling them they were for a 63 Tempest. I ordered 5x4.5 bolt spacing because that is what the early tempests use. When I received my wheels they were 5x4.75. I called and dealt with a gentleman that hemmed and hawed until an older person took the phone and starting yelling at me about "no tempest ever had the bolt spacing you ordered". "I changed that order in production because you ordered them wrong." I owned a new one so I should know..."

I am tired of typing and could type forever on this. Long story short It took many heated arguments and 8 months to get it fixed.

Stocktons quality is very good. However, be ready to get the run around and lied to.

Know what you mean....
I thought about using Stocton wheel but decided not to as they are on left coast and I am on right coast !!! Too far to haggle if needed. I went nuts trying to get some simple 15X7X5 on 5 wheels this week....
Always,always got asked...."What vehicle are they for ??" Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
It doesn't matter as long as they fit...
Wound up going to salvage yard and finding them myself...
