Has anyone tried them in the dash of your 66 or 67? And also tried them in the taillights?
Mustang Monthly has an article in the March issue and says they make a big difference. But, they cannot be dimmed. Yeah , I read that rag too. LOL

I tried them in my 65 gto and they are terrible...the ones for my tail lights wouldn't even FIT in the hole...Plus they were NOT bright...there are some New stock type bulbs out there..and they are brighter than the older stock bulbs..Find and use them...

That's been my "dream car" for years. Imagine if Shelby had joined up with Pontiac years ago, and what we might have now. Think of how much a Shelby Judge would be worth. Rug, I put red dash light bulbs in my 79 Formual back in the 80s and loved em. It was so much easier on the eyes at night. Gtopont, the 66 tail light housing are bigger if I'm not mistaken. They might fit. My son-in-law has the 1157 type LEDs on the shelf at his truckstop. I might try one for giggles and grins and see what happens. They'll shine up but it still mght make things brighter. I do know I've got to find something to make the signal, tail, and brake lights brighter. And with the LEDS, if I remember right, you need the electrial flasher..... which I have a few of from my trucking days.

I tried them too..
The tail light bulb$ would not fit in the sockets. The original dash light bulbs are designed to shine out in a perimeter so they light up a broader area for the gauges. The LED only shine in a set direction. So the whole gauge face does not light up. They do might brighter bulbs now, that do fit. I even changed the color of my dash lights to red. Looks awesome.

LEDs are directional whereas filament bulbs like the 1157 are not. If you notice, the original bulbs are placed in a housing which is a reflector. Why? To focus the light that is emitted in 360 degrees back to where it is desired. This way, one receives more of the light that is emitted.
I have been experimenting with LEDs for a short while. I'm close to having something that will work, but one needs to think differently. The 1157 type LED replacements will not generate the desired look as their light is too concentrated. I'll post up something soon as I have more time to perfect it. And yes, you need an electronic flasher for an LED setup. It must be grounded also, not just plugged in. -Kurt

Gary,
I could almost swear my son found they in a 90° configuration. He's offshore right now, but I'll check with him next week. I sure hope I'm not about to "remove all doubt" in reverse. Charles |

The LEDs on the blue car above look like the flush mounts by Hagan that have been used on Hot Rods for years here is a link to them.

I have built my own LED's. Not hard to do. I may build a set for the 72. Couple of pic's of the units I built for the camper. I replaced the 1141 bulbs with them and got more light and dropped the watts from 19 to 5.
I used 10mm LED's for my project as they had a greater beam width (40 degrees)
