Talking Waterpump Overdrive Pulley Kit Group Buy

I've contacted an aluminum pulley manufacturer concerning the "PONTIAC" crests lack of REASONABLY PRICED pulley availability. Seems our prayer ahve been answered. He currently offers a direct drive (1-1 ratio) pulley kit for Pontiacs as well as power steering pump pulleys and alt fas as well. these kits sell for $137 for the complete kit and $20 S&H. The kit consists of 1 the following:

V Belt Pulley kit for Pontiac Big Block Engines (350-400, 428, 455). Designed for use with stock power steering and alternator brackets. We also have alternator fans and power steering pulleys available for Pontiac Engines. This is a great price! (This pulley kit sells for more than $212 from March)
MADE IN USA from aircraft quality 6061-T6 aluminum.
Application
Traditional Pontiac V-8 engines (overdrive water pump)
Fits vehicles with:
1) 1968 or newer dampener
2) And 1969 or newer water pump (4.5" from flange to engine block)
Pontiac Pulley Kit Contents:

Alternator Pulley:
Diameter: 2.7"
Alternator Shaft Diameter: 11/16"
Alternator Fan Sold Separately
Available Finishes:
- Machined
Material:
6061-T6 Billet Aluminum

Pontiac Pulley Kit Compares to:
March Performance pulley kit 13030.

He has agreed to make a kit consisting of 1 7.25" crank pulley, 1 5.5" WP pulley and an alt pulley for the 15% off per kit for a group buy ($116.45 + $20 S&H for all 3 pulleys).....only stipulation is we need 25 orders to get it rolling. I'll have to talk over the payment options if there is enough demand for the kit. He initially wanted a 50 order minimum, but stated that if we could get 25 kits ordered, he would shelve the remaining 25 kits as stock and make them a regular item. If ya want a screamin' deal on pulleys....e-mail me or PM me. Once we get 25 people wanting the overdriven waterpump kits, I'll contact him to see how he wants to work out the payments. I'd prefer it be on a one on one basis with each person paying him as I stand to make nothing on this deal. I only want to be able to buy 1 kit and see that the kit is available to us at a price only the funny little orange engine owners have been getting all along. Here's a pic of the one to one kit available now. It is representative of what the overdriven waterpump kit will look like with different sized crank and waterpump pulleys.

I'm in. Bummer it won't fit the 67 block, as I've got an issue with my Firebird...

Forgot to mention...CVF Racing also has alternator fans and power steering pulleys that can be added to the kit at an additional....albeit very reasonable cost (read SBC pricing).

if these were in a single groove config i would buy a set for sure as my 535 turbo runs hot with the march underdrive set.

I'm hoping that if we can get enough orders to get this overdrive pulley kit into production, he will realize there are many other pulleys needed for our crest and take an interest in providing the pulleys we need/want. There's definately money to be made providing quality pulleys for Pontiacs at reasonable prices. Are both the WP pulley and the crank pulleys you currently have one groove or just the WP pulley?

So What alternator bracket/power steering bracket would i need with these? Lets say im starting fresh. Just an 11 bolt waterpump cover on a 73' 400 in my 67' GTO. Would 67' Brackets work? {I have those} or will i need to get a different year to make all this stuff work?

PS Im about 99% sold on this i just want to get my details figured out first.

well the water pump pulley is a 2 groove but i need to get a one groove for it as that goes on my 68. the crank pulley was a 2 groove but i had one machined off for vacuum pump drive clearance so... i need a single water pump and single crank pulley. mine are march pulleys and are underdrive and my car runs hot.

could have something to do with the turbo under the hood too i suppose

I'm in for a set, but what was the final cost? Thanks for spearheading this. Much appreciated. I usually never read this section, will you alert us or should we just keep watching the thread? I would probably add the alt pully as well. What was the final costs? Or let us know when the final count is in. Mark L

Not a problem, Mark.
I wanted an overdrive set up for my GTO as it has always run hotter then I liked. I switched to a smaller stock pulley and saw some improvements....and after reading the "Magic Bullet" post I thought that it shouldn't be all that difficult to convince someone to manufacture the pulley set-up that was claimed to be the "hot ticket" without charging an "arm and a leg".
After conversing at length to CVF Racing...they agreed to produce the kit and do a group buy for us as well to get things off the ground.
I'm buying one set and they will be sent to "Mirror Finish Polishing" to be polished.
I'll gain nothing more from this deal than every other member of the group buy.....The availability of an overdiven waterpump pulley kit at SBC pricing. All transactions will be handled through CVF Racing as I don't want any "middleman" complaints.
Everything will be done on their website with a discount code for the group buy. I'm waiting till we hit the magic number and then I'll ask if the power steering pump pulleys as well as the alternator fans that each member would/may want to accompany their overdrive pulley set will be included in the 15% off deal. Even if the 1 or 2 extra items aren't included....it sure beats the heck out of the current pulley pricing offerings.
Here's a link to their website for pricing info.
http://www.cvfracing.com/pontiac-pulley-kits
I'll find out what they'll do for us with S&H packages once and or if we get to 25 orders for the discount. They were quite impressed with getting 15 orders in a rather short time span. Once I let them know we have the 25 order minimum, I think it may bring us a little bit of leverage....maybe.
Thanks Again for participating in this group buy.....I think we'll all benefit from it.
as for the final cost for the 3 pulleys ( 1 waterpump, 1 crank and 1 alternator) is $116.45 + $20 S&H
Brad

This looks like nice Kit and a reasonable price. If I didnt have so many other things in line that I needed for my vert ID be into this buy.

Good luck And I hope the boys all support this since the more new products we can get going for pontiacs the better. Its not an easy road thats for sure.

Well guys....seems we hit a small snag on the pulley project.
After reading the "magic Bullet" post...I set out to find "somebody" to make us pulleys for a reasonable price. using the 7.25" and 5.5" pulley measurements I went to work. but...after talking it over at length and using my junk for measuring and such...seems those sizes will not work on the later water pump set-up. A 5.5" WP pulley will net us a pulley with approx. 4" ID....and that my friends will hit the webbing on our water pumps (see pic). That being said, if we move from a 7.25" crank pulley up to a 7.9" (using an 8" round billet and removing a small amount for clean-up) and using their existing 6.2" WP pulley, it will effectively overdrive the WP approx. 128%. This compares to the factory set up w/ an 8" crank pulley and a 6.5" WP pulley which netted us an overdrive ratio of 123%. We'll gain another 5% in OD and these look better and are much easier to procure than the factory pieces. I taken the liberty of PM'ing everyone involved in this group buy thus far. If this is a deal breaker for anyone for any reason, please let me know....and if this makes a few more people interested in buying a kit...again, let me know. This will also be easier on CVF Racing because it'll be less inventory to stock...1 spare pulley instead of 2.

CVF Racing has notified me that they will work this weekend to finish designing the 7.9" crank pulley and put it on the top of their priority list for new products.

Same pricing.

Standard 1:1 kit $137 + $20 S&H
Water Pumps Over Drive Kit (127.5% Over Driven Water Pump
293% OD Alt..will help with low speed/idle charging) $137 + $20 S&H

If group but of 25 orders is met, pricing for the WP OD kit will be as follows:
WP OD Kit:
$116.45 + $20 S&H

Optional Billet Alternator fan is available for $$24
Optional Power Steering Pulley is available for $42

Once we get the OD pulleys into production....I'll inquire about combined S+H and the additional 15% discount on the optional stuff as well.
