Hey guys,
Has anybody bought this replica dash panel off eBay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT I know that this has been asked before but nobody had taken the plunge. I figured I'd ask again as it's been a while and I'm thinking about grabbing one. I can see that five have been sold and I'm wondering what the level of quality is. |

PY had this at the Englishtown swap meet for 419.00. It was a relly nice reproduction and they told me if I didnt like the way it fit it could be returned. I probably would have bought but have already sent mine out to be rechromed. FYI the rechroming was 395.00 BUT that includes the 2 outter a/c vents

Where did you send for re-chroming?

Sent it Autoinstruments in Va. I chose them because they also do the gauge/clock restoration. Spoke to them earlier today and the said I should have everything back in about a week and a half. They said 5-6 weeks when they got the parts in late March so thats about right. We'll see, so far the communication has been good.

JD, I had Auto Instruments do my dash re-chrome and they did a nice job. Mine was the first 68 GTO they had done so they mistakenly painted the gauge pod surrounds black instead of the correct blue/green. I called them, sent it back and they corrected within 1 week at no cost to me including the shipping. Nice bunch of guys.

Got the bezel and gauges back today and they look great. For anyone considering re-plating, I would definitely recommend Autoinstruments. The detail painting is better than I expected. Its a shame that its gonna be covered up by the woodgrain. Im at work now and dont have access to my camera but will post some pics as the dash goes back together

I think its coming ouy really good. Installed new printed circut and reinstalled the gauges today. Also, while putting this back together, I found a single white 194 bulb socket. Im sure that it doesnt go into the gauge cluster. It doesnt have a wire attached but it does have a metal connector where a wire would connect. Any ideas where this socket goes?
