Default 1968 PHS

Can anyone tell me what columns 74-80 are for on the billing history sheet? The larger sheet that show options that I received from PHS stops at 73. I have a number 2 in column 74, and cant find what that references. I will appreciate any help decoding my PHS. Thanks

I think Jim Mattison told me once that they to do with stuff like shoulder belts. I believe shoulder belts were not Federally mandated until 69. So some 68's may not have had factory installed shoulder belts. I have seen codes 731, 742, and 754. Scott

I have 742 on my PHS also. Don't know what it means. I have 754 which is for shoulder belts as said above.

Default More questions?

I have another question on column 34 (engine) there is a 5. On the option order form 5 is not listed, it has numbers 1-4 then 6 and 8? I also see 49 4 what is that?

345 is not on the options list because it was standard equipment - the 400/4bbl engine was standard for the 68 GTO.

494 is Rally Stripes

754 is Front Shoulder Belts

It's just a double pinstripe that runs from front to rear above the lower style line.
Someone probably has a better photo but my first GTO that I bought in '82 had the stripes. You can just barely make them out in these photos. Look right below the GTO shield on the fender and right above the rocker extension behind the wheel opening on the quarter. Second pic, right ahead of the wheel opening.

I take it the billing sheet '74' isn't the same as '74' on the buildsheet?

I would think it would be (in prior years they corresponded).

Some other questions have come up...My GTO has power steering but it is not checked on the billing history? Also about 10 years ago I had the gas tank out of the car if I remember right it had 5/16" fuel lines. Is that correct for an original 4bbl. 400?

71 & 72 are tires John.

For example a P in 71 and a C in 72 would be G70 Wide Oval Red Line Tires.

I saw that, that's why I thought maybe it was for a spare tire or wheel since it was below the 71/72.

Most didn't show anything in 74 so figured it would be for standard spare/wheel.

Some of the 70 sheets (which looked like the 68/69 sheets) had the NG-5 or 4 digit numbers.

From that other link, it could just be an internal use thing.
But why would it be down there?

Possibly it's for how the spare tire mount in the trunk was welded on?

Or?
