There was one of these at the Trans Am Nationals this year. Hard to believe, but I think they made around 300 of these things between 1985-1990. These were not kit cars, they were converted to Tojans, then delivered to dealers, ready to sell. Not my cup of tea, but some people like them.

Nothing like being 'safe and protected' while driving down the road in yer Trojan. LOL
Must have been a special delivery to the dealers that sold them, because I've never seen one until Mike's photo or that Craigs List ad.

![]() The first time I saw one, I walked right by it, assuming it was a kit car with some horrible body panels. I was shocked when I found out they actually sold these through Pontiac dealers. I'd never heard of them until around 1997, and even then, I thought it was April Fool's joke. I think most Pontiac fans would like to forget them.

Well Mike, they'd have to grow on you just like some other cars out there that are sold today. Come to think of it, I do remember seeing a full hatchback 3rd gen Firebird back then, but it still had the normal Firebird front end on it. The front wasn't like the one in your photo. No idea what it was or supposed to be.
After hauling the 3rd generation Firebirds and Camaros I said I'd never own one. The 79s to 81s were the last good Firebirds made, IMHO.

The plant that converted them was on the north end of South Sioux city, Nebraska. I don't recall ever seeing one driving around town when the plant was open. Now the building they were modified in is a convention center.

Toe Jam???
The car probably would've sold better if they would've picked a better name. Naming a car after a rubber or scum that builds up between your toes isn't a good idea...
